Dziga Vertov - Retrospective

Film historians place Vertov among the founders of modern cinema. Within the fine arts, Vertov's name is brought up in the context of avant-garde and modern art of the 1920s. In literature, he is placed alongside such Russian futurists as Mayakovsky and Burliuk, and in the political history of the 20th century, Vertov is seen as an important source of visual information in the dramatic period of the Bolshevik Revolution and the Russian Civil War.
