NOVEMBER 2009

Tribute to Wim Wenders

The Jerusalem and Tel Aviv Cinematheques are holding a modest tribute to the German director in honor of his visit. The last decade of Wender's filmmaking is characterized by his ideological commitments and his attempt to create socially aware films. His first visit to Israel in almost a decade is an opportunity to reacquaint ourselves to one of the most influential forces in world cinema for the past 40 years and learn a thing or two about his art

Tribute to Jim Jarmusch

The Limits of Control, Jim Jarmusch's latest film, is a wonderful opportunity to play tribute to this magnificent director, who for the past two and a half decades has been continually creating unique and worthy cinema. In a time when marginal films and their directors are viewed less and less, it is interesting to consider Jarmusch's cinema yet again - still independent and fascinating
