SEPTEMBER 2010

Tribute to Clint Eastwood

What make Clint Eastwood such an influential and significant persona? From his first films with Sergio Leone, Eastwood established the thin, tall, and silent type who stands up to the world. This physical image is a simile for a social ethics. Eastwood's character emblemized ambivalent morals - a need for justice on the one hand, and the use of any means to achieve it on the other. Eastwood's choice of characters has played around with this ambiguity - characters that are aware of their powers, but that also understand the price one has to pay for this power.
