Legendary Israel Philharmonic conductor Zubin Mehta announced that he will retire as musical director in 2019. There is no doubt that Mehta transformed the Israel Philharmonic into one of the world’s leading orchestras. This documentary, a cinematic portrait of Mehta, tells the story of a musician who was born and raised in India, and went to Vienna to study music at age 18. At 25 he began conducting the Israel Philharmonic. The bond between him and that orchestra continued to strengthen until, in 1981, Mehta was appointed its musical director for life. Mehta also conducts other orchestras around the world, and this film follows him as he travels. His life comes across as the embodiment of the dream of the global village — a village in which music unites diverse people and creates wonderful opportunities for collaboration and friendship.
