Heartbreak

Heartbreak is the name of a silent, sensitive, playful, and poetic character who endures extreme violence between October 7, 2023, and October 7, 2024. Forced to move from place to place, it listens to the voices of Israelis—sharing stories of survival and loss. Through wordless, and therefore apolitical, pantomime, it expresses its shock, even as personal tragedy ultimately reaches it too. Inspired by Buster Keaton and mime artist Marcel Marceau, the film’s black-and-white hybrid form allows a purely emotional narrative—told through pantomime and dance—to meet a documentary one.
