The Great Silence

The Great Silence

Italy 1968 | 105 minutes | Italian | Hebrew subtitles

1898. A group of bounty hunters set to capture fugitives hiding in the snow-covered mountains of Utah. When Pauline's husband is killed by their leader, she hires a mute gunfighter to avenge his death. The Great Silence is perhaps Sergio Corbucci's finest cinematic achievement. With the Dolomites as the backdrop, a pair of excellent lead actors, and a brilliant soundtrack by Morricone, Corbucci created a Western devoid of sentiment, in which critics find subversive messages at the height of a tumultuous political period.
